I bet that's fun to watch. They are too smart for thier own good, sometimes; meaning, they're good escape artists! They also figure why hang around those inferior birds, we're WAY smarter than them! :)
-here in south florida it's interesting to see/hear them "in the wild". even though they're not native, they've acclimated themselves pretty well... they seem to test each other a lot, chase each other around, &don't appear to socialize w/ other birds: ducks, cranes, herons... even graeckels, crows, seagulls, and pigeons all mill around and occupy the same areas. the parrots just play 'tag' all day... saying "-ack -ack". (and the vultures just watch everything, circling, circling). :^)
It varies by each individual bird. They will bond with a favorite human, but if they pair off and begin breeding, them they become vicious. Even those pairs can/will speak. It just depends on the bird, they are their own individuals!
my impression was that a bird as this will bond to 1 person... unless other birds are present & then will bond to each other instead, and not 'speak', but only squawk. is this accurate?
Yeah, and they're REALLY FREAKIN' LOUD! My mom has about 150 birds, including 8 pairs of maccaws (Blue and Gold, Scarlets, and Buffons), and they are really vocal. No one wants to go near her house.... LOL...
very cool
