How to customize hotkeys in Starcraft 2

This is the third (and hopefully last!) version of the guide I wrote over TL.net forums on how to customize your hotkeys in SC2. all i want to see is how you use your hands on the keyboard. Like if you want to hotkey 0 then how do you do that fast??? do you take your hand away from your mouse and click zero or do you stretch out your hand???

@fakkeRICH : there are few videos online that will show pro gamers movement on the keyboard (Korean Gamers: APM demonstration should be related on the right side). Although I have seen HuK's movement during some tournament, and he reaches the 8-9 keys using his left hand, it's not incredibly far from 4-5-6 which are commonly used. But he also admitted that he still uses those because of the SC1 shortcuts he got used to. I would personally suggest to avoid using 8-9-0 entirely.

Interesting.. I would like to be able to do this.. However, I thought this falls squarely under the 'thou shalt not use 3rd party software that modifies the keybindings" in the TOS.. ?

@Grendalsh : AFAIK, there are no such thing as "thou shalt not use 2rd party software that modifies the keybindings" anywhere in Blizzard's terms of agreement or EULA - and I did read them

also, Dustin Browder said in an interview that advanced users could change the hotkeys with a text editor - that would be considered a 3rd party software

Tiler's tool is working with the retail, it got improved so much in the last few months that you will seldom need to do what is shown in this video. Here's his webpage :

@videogamediary the manual procedure (with MPQ Editor) doesn't quite work anymore, I can't extract all the files.

Although, Tiler released a working version of his software and it works like a charm, look up the Tech Support forums at TL.net
