Here's a short video of the assembled pollen collector. The custom-designed microprocessor turns a stepper motor that will be attached to the shutter assembly (not shown), which exposes each chamber to the air. As each chamber opens, the controller also activates each of the pollen collector motors. Air is drawn through each chamber by a large fan (also not shown). As the collector rod assemblies spin, adhesive on the leading face of each of the rods traps any pollen that collides with the fast-spinning (7k rpm) rods.
