I was replying to somebody else who was speaking about how great the diesel car is and how easy you could destroy a petrol car with a diesel engine, by modyfing it.
@Lolf88 Half of the ST170's made by Ford never produced the real 170 horsepower. Ford threw in a VVT inlet cam and had the cylinders modified by cosworth on the old 128bhp 2.0 litre Zetec/Duratec engine. Ford being Ford never road tested it or dyno tested the car they just 'threw it in' at a wild guess and mapped the engine management to put out 170. Only the outcome of it wasn't quite what they'd hoped for...
@BallisticEVA01 Sillicone/cold feed turbo hoses and intercooler pipework will do the trick and should increase the power. New intercooler is better but then it also shoves your torque curve right up and eliminates the original low-down grunt. Changing your Pipework over to a cold air feed won't ruin the original grunt and It'll cost you less then installing a new intercooler. Do the pipes first and see if the pipes make a difference!
@BallisticEVA01 i drove a 1.9tdi audi a3, felt it was too slow really, thats why i went for the 2.0tdi, on a 2006 plate (06) mine was the s line model too, half leather ect.. it had 120,000 miles on clock when i had to get rid of it, the head gasket went in the end, and we wasnt sure if the head was cracked, next the turbo would of blew.. so talking a few grand to keep, maybe get another one in the future. ive driven the 150 astra sri, was a absolute animal in sport mode i felt, loved it!
Yeah, i do understand the surge of need to have more horsepower, my father had a Audi A4 estate with the same 2.0 140hp and whenever my dad played around with me and my Astra, his Audi very often stayed standing talking alone... the 1.9 Audi diesel engine was a little bit more lively, dont you think?
Still... great engine, i already made more than 1100 kms with one full tank, granny style driving!
Did you fixed your A3? Its a great car, confortable and very good looking.
@BallisticEVA01 mine was the 140bhp version fwd, after remap it was 170-175bhp bout 290-300ft lbs of torque.. the mid range pull was insane, gave butterflys on heavy acceleration, EVERYTHING went on it just about, it was such a nice car too... 140bhp was good enough but i couldnt help but try take it to its limit.. wish i left it standard..
@BallisticEVA01 its cool bro.

I see... Doing the pipework is an expensive thing to do?
I´ll talk about this to a friend of mine to see what he thinks. Thanks for the answer.
