Truly amazing what horses put up with. And the only reason why they horse is moving off so nicely is because he has spurs to keep him going! Dressage should be about training and challenge. Not about winning, and doing whatever it takes it win. To many people ride behind the verticle, and it drives me nuts. In lower levels you are actually supposed to have your horse slightly above the verticle! Ugh, why cant it always be like that?

horrible and shameful! Sorry to all horses for this kind of riding!
Go for species-appropriate husbandry!

Why are top riders taking such horrible shortcuts? It just makes them look horrible. They should be doing it the RIGHT way and showing off their riding ability.

Why are there people that like this video?!?! Can't they see how the horse suffers?! There are more negative aspects about hyperflexion than postitive! SO STOP DOING THIS SHIT!!

A cruel and boring life for these noble creatures.

Even without showing his blue tongue that poor horse looks insanely uncomfortable! Poor thing! :(

Dear god that looks awful! How could someone do this to their horse.Sure you are an Olympic rider, but does that mean you have to belittle your horse and beat them down BEFORE you even go into the ring! I would never do something like this to my horse! Though he is a Spanish breed of horse harsh methods like this one are still used. Every time I ride my horse INCLUDING when I show I politely ask him to do something. I say please and thank you. What everyone thought was insane I ride bareback

What kind of disconnect must there be in people's minds, that they can think for a moment that this is natural movement?!

Simply disgusting... If he loved horses, he wouldn't be doing this!
It's amazing how much expression and cadence the horse manages to show despite having his chin strapped to his chest. Imagine how much more impressive he would be if ridden properly up and out into the contact!

heck! this isnt dressage! dressage is about taking less and doing more! not using more harsher bits, spurs, and whips to make the horse do what u want.... i bet if these people used those tools as tools and not as weapons to force the horse to do it, them and there horses will be a LOT happier!!!
