Time-lapse video shot while driving from De Bilt (Netherlands) through Germany to Bellwald (Switzerland) - 12.5 hours in 13.5 minutes. Some detours were made to avoid traffic jams. No time to watch the whole video? Make sure you've seen these highlights:
1:49 - Picknicking family
5:10 - No speed limit on the German Autobahn (highest speed recorded is 191 km/h)
5:34 - Entering France (detour)
6:22 - Man taking some snacks
7:35 - Swiss border (Basel-Weil am Rhein)
7:47 - Man waiting for his family
9:12 - smaller road to Kandersteg for Lötschberg car train to Goppenstein (Valais/Wallis)
9:53 - car train terminal
10:38 - Descent in Rhone valley
11:33 onwards - Most beautiful part of the trip: Brig-Bellwald (two shorter stops were made: one to do some shopping in Mörel and one in Fieschertal.
12:51 - oncoming agricultural vehicle.
How it's made:
A Logitech C905 webcam was mounted on the dashboard, connected to an old laptop running VLC which was taking a picture every 2-3 seconds. GPS data were recorded by a Nokia phone running TTGPSLogger. After all ~21000 pictures were taken, the time and speed were placed in the photos. Then, using FFmpeg, the images were turned into a video, and then some boring parts were speed up and some exciting parts slowed down.
