Here's part two of the drive on Arthur Kill Rd. in August 1983. Note the Black Garter sign, overgrown weeds, run down homes, the Century Inn (70's Rock Club) which was near Sharotts Road. I recall a series of murders committed there in the late 1970s. Anyone know if that Public School 4 is still around? For more on the Black Garter see the movie No Way Home with James Russo.

  • Hey, that's the Chameleons UK!

  • @terdwilicker - Indeed it is - that's the song I had on in the car the day of this video back in 1983 - I think I saw them that year or the year after shortly before their manager got killed in NYC

  • The Public School is still there. But it is not a school any more.

  • Is it being used for another purpose or just simply vacated ?

  • Do you know if the Public School is still there ? Many thanks for the updates and commentary

  • the school is in fact still there and is still being used as a school. it is being used for all of the slower/ less behaved negro kids in the borough. same as at mt. loretto.

  • Good job on the video, thank you for sharing it, so much has change over the years.

  • i drive Arthur kill all the time and i never see this shit

  • So how did this road get it's name?

  • The singer has a very distinctive voice and guitar/bass playing style. Hard to mistake him for anyone else.

  • go on google street view and see the difference between then and now

  • Public School 4 is still very much in use, although it is no longer Public School 4. It is now I.S. 25, an annex building of South Richmond High School (Mount Loretto) for students with behavioral/emotional disabilities.
