Some time ago now I made a music video for Christmas. It was made with footage of the film 'Gremlins' (1984). Which is one of my favourite films. So now I wanted to that same video again, except I wanted to make it better. And I really hope I did.

The movie is based on a script written by a young Chris Columbus who sold it to Steven Spielberg. The story was a lot darker back then, but when Spielberg asked Joe Dante to direct the project took a whole different turn. Dante discovered how funny the creatures could be and decided to make it a horror/comedy. 'Gremlins' is about an inventor named Randal Peltzer (Hoyt Axton) who buys his son Billy (Zach Galligan) a special gift for Christmas. A Mogwai called Gizmo. It comes with three simple rules; don't expose it to sunlight or it will die, don't get it wet and most importantly never feed it after midnight. Of course it is bound to go wrong and within days the town of Kingston Falls is overrun by little green monsters: Gremlins!

The song that I used is 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' by Darlene Love. It is featured in one of the first scenes of the film. The original soundtrack was composed and conducted by the famed Jerry Goldmsith. This must be one of his most creative music ever, with the touching Gizmo theme, the quirky town theme and the memorable Gremlin Rag.

'Gremlins' and its music belong to Warner Bros.

  • You win teh internets!

Best mother jumping Christmas video evah!

  • i am going to watch gremlins with the family on christmas day

  • Better than It's a Wonderful Life, not as good as The Shop Around the Corner.

But both this and the sequel (moreso) still qualify as the greatest monster movies of all time anyway.

  • Gotta love gremlins. Such a badass movie.

  • this movie haunted my childhood

  • I just love gremlins. They are so cute.

  • I prefer the sequel myself, but this is still the perfect Christmas film. Who doesn't want to spend their holiday getting torn apart by hell-raising little green monsters?
