@m0t0cr0ss17 it depends on the thickness of the hay and your actual size of bale. we make 5 foot bales that weight in the ballpark of 1500-1750 pounds a piece, but thats on the large side. most people make 4 foot bales

@m0t0cr0ss17 oh wow i just read online u can get up to 4-6 round bales per acre.. so well have alot lol
-
@CountryBoy720 not sure.. lol i dont remember what my dad said we would get, its about 22 acres out of 30, the other is used in garden and we planted some trees. and the rest is a river with forest so yeah..
how many bales would you say 22 acres would get, about 18?

@m0t0cr0ss17 it's do-able, but the initial investment is pretty sharp lol. how many bales are you looking at making?
-
@CountryBoy720 dang thats what wre buying that tractor for.. lol. but were ugnna probably keep 4-5 bails then sell the rest. right now we dont have any animals but were getting 2-4 goats, some meat rabits, and maybe a couple cow.

@m0t0cr0ss17 Cool cool. I would recommend getting them to do it the next time too, because to do it yourself, you need a hay mower, hay rake, fluffer (optional really, but speeds up drying time), and a baler. Are your planning on selling it or keeping it to feed animals? And I'm cutting with a disc-bine. Its like a regular hay mower, but it "conditions" it as well to speed up drying time. Just to give you some perspective, we bought it used for a steal of a price of $12,500.

@CountryBoy720 yeh, were letting someone else cut it for this cut, (its 2nd cut hay, last year we bush hogged it and llet it be for the year.) but someones doing it and raking and bailing themselfs. in mid summer we might be doing it ourselfs tho. what are you using to cut?
-
@m0t0cr0ss17 Oh yeah lol, i cut 24 acres of it yesterday and we've got about 30 more that'll be ready within a week. Are you gonna try and get it up yourself or is someone gonna do it on halves? And major tip: if your gonna try to cut hay, you CANNOT use a bush hog. It just shreds it too much to make it worth anything
what do you have planted in that field? like a timothy or orchardgrass?

@W1zar6 It's mostly bermuda and coastal bermuda, with patches of johnson grass
