Natural pools of liquid asphalt have been capturing and fossilizing creatures in the Los Angeles basin for 40,000 years. The skeletons of many amazing pre-historic creatures- including the Wooly Mammoth, the Sabre Tooth Tiger, and the Dire Wolf- have been resurrected in the Page Museum next to the La Brea Tar Pits.
