The other zoo visitors standing behind me while I recorded this video said it looked like the alligator snapping turtle was showing me the steps to going up for air.

So, these are the steps:

1. Look directly at the visitors, and let them see how cute your face is.

2. Turn slightly to the side.

3. Rise slowly until just the tip of your nose breaks the surface of the water.

4. Wait a second.

5. Rise a little more until your nostrils are above water.

6. Take a breath.

  • @ThleTruth Yes, I learned that I can not hold my breath as long as an alligator snapping turtle, even if I am not underwater.
