"My father never, ever said anything to me about his theories. I was in the same house with him for at least 18 years but he was a total stranger to me. He was in his own parallel universe. He was a physical presence, like the furniture, sitting there jotting down crazy notations at the dining room table night after night. I think he was deeply disappointed that he knew he was a genius but the rest of the world didn't know it." - Mark Everett.

I feel really sad to hear about Mark not really being close to his dad at all....I think the worst thing a parent can do is not show love and interest in their child....

No, he wasn't trash....he knew that once you're dead your remains are not YOU anymore...they mean nothing. He went on to another universe, so throw the remains in the trash!

Unfortunately that doesn’t matter because Hugh Everett’s interpretation of the quantum state is the best explanation we have. It’s the result of taking quantum mechanics literally, as well as that there are currently other reasons for adopting this kind of ontology:

    (1) The superposition of the wavefunction can only be solved by postulating parallel universes

    (2) It’s also entailed by Quantum computers and Quantum constructer theory.

It's obviously not about the physics, but the 'parallel worlds' relates to the life of Hugh and the life of Mark... so it's a personal story, not an explanation of the theory. A double biography, if you'd like.

distracted genius or detracted thing. genius without wisdom is a waste of elements. no wonder he wanted to end up in the trash since thats all he could make of what he will be. so much for worthless aethism. parallel yet neither offer redemption. very worthless yet insightful considering where we are in time.

    love; whats that?
