The first annual Dancers' Choice performance supports NYCB's Dancers' Emergency Fund, which was instituted to provide financial resources for NYCB dancers in situations of extraordinary need.
This special one-time-only program will feature a World Premiere by NYCB Soloist Adam Hendrickson to music composed by NYCB corps de ballet member Aaron Severini, along with excerpts from:
Beethoven Romance Beethoven/Martins Dances at a Gathering Chopin/Robbins
Ecstatic Orange Torke/Martins
Glass Pieces Glass/Robbins
Interplay Gould/Robbins
Rubies Stravinsky/Balanchine
Mecurial Manoeuvres Shostakovich/Wheeldon
Square Dance Vivaldi, Corelli/Balanchine
Symphony in C Bizet/Balanchine
Union Jack Kay/Balanchine
Initiated by Peter Martins, Principal Dancer Jonathan Stafford was asked to conceive and supervise the evening along with its marketing and promotional efforts, marking the first time that a NYCB dancer has programmed and cast a Company performance. To assist him in planning the evening, Jonathan has put together a committee of dancers, including Kyle Froman, Craig Hall, Amanda Hankes, Adam Hendrickson, Ask la Cour, Henry Seth, and Daniel Ulbricht.
