I always see a lot of hate for college students when they protest. I just don't understand, protests are an essential part of democracy. Can someone explain to me why what the students did was wrong?

The protestors occupied the wrong turf. They should've aimed at Washington Square, which is public territory. That was mistake number 1. Mistake number 2: attempting to riot. Mistake number 3: Carpetbagging Palestinian/Israeli conflict stuff into there, which is controversial among liberals (especially Muslim anti-Zionist liberals and Jewish liberals who are Zionists).
