Out hiking with my CDV-700b to the abandoned Sunshine Mine. It is an abandonded Uranium mine on the eastern face of the Vermilion Cliffs in northern Arizona. Nothing was too terribly hot, but it was pretty neat to see the counter click. Of course things were left where they were found.
This is the actual mine site, unlike the first video. Nothing was too terribly hot here either, except for some ore in the dumper. I got no hits at all when I lowered the probe into the mine shaft.

  • Excuse me but, what does it mean when the meter is 'red lining' as shown at the end of your video?!

  • @bachfor It means that it is at the maximum reading range for that sensitivity setting. I could go down in sensitivity to get a more accurate reading. The CDV-700 has three settings - 1x, 10x, and 100x. I believe this was set on 10x, so I could have gone up to 100x for a better reading. In fact I did, but didn't film it - wasn't very impressive.
