  • @drmbob1 yeah, OK drmbob. I hear you. The arranger & Vinnie worked out the style immediately before this vid took place.

  • @bftiger75 aight.... he awrite.

  • hey dancin spiderman, i see your point, regarding the drummer and his licks on the accents of the horns ... as a drummer, there is a method to his madness. it all stems back to the big band days of the Count, Duke, Glenn Miller and the likes. All the drummers accented with the horns. Later that same concept was continued by the great David Garibaldi -- listen to the classic Tower Of Power cuts and you'll see/feel my point. So lighten-up on Mr. Drummer here. He Awrite!!!

  • to DancingSiderman. The horns and drum track were arranged so that they would hit together. It's not Vinnie, but the arrangement.

  • @DancingSpiderman Your advice flies in the face of the entire history of drums playing with horns. Listen to Basie--that's what this is, really.

  • @robbertscherp You forgot to give me a Thumbs Up, man

  • @DancingSpiderman haha man good luck with playing those tracks better or more musically than Vinnie Collaiuta himself!

  • i went to jerry's site and he doesn't have a list of current projects he's working on. Sad to say, but the horn-spiced R&B is not a big of a seller in the US as it used to be. ANyone know what he's up to?

  • Fantastic, thanks for posting! Don't suppose there anymore tunes from this DVD featuring Jerry and the guys?

  • Beautiful song, but I wish the drummer would quit hitting the snare in unison with the horns -- the snare is lowering the percussive & tonal effectiveness of the horns when he does that. Drummer, just play a straight 4/4 pattern during the horn parts; don't overshadow the horns. Hitting the snare in unison with the 1st note of the horn licks also reduces the funkiness you are seeking to maintain in this song.
