metamorphosis - Installation art by Makiko Miyamoto

Metamorphosis inhabits a huge ethereal space, as if it is a hidden place on the earth. three layers of translucent cylinders that are made of white veil cover a large tent-like space that is the core of this piece. there is a three-minute video loop which projects on the inside surface of the installation, and also projects onto your body. the imagery of the video represents a cycle of life. there are three stages to this cycle; birth, life to death and transformation from death to rebirth. the top of the tent has a five-foot diameter opening that is covered with three layers of diaphanous veil that catches the projection on each layer. this creates the feeling of depth above you.
