Canadian Somali Congress president Ahmed Hussen interviewed on the famine in Somalia. The Canadian Somali Congress has been calling on the Canadian government to substantially increase its financial contribution to the humanitarian emergency in East Africa and to match dollar for dollar donations made by Canadians to the victims of this severe drought.

  • Why do we mix famine and immigration issues?

  • I guess the fathers of these famine children ( alshabaab & warloards) are going to get their pay day. As Bev Oda announced today, 22 million and more in aid going to somalia.

  • I think he answered rather well since it seemed like he was ambushed (as I was by the title) by the question on fugitives from the law. About the famine though he said aid organizations must go into Somalia to the people hit hardest but he says Al Shabaab has pledged to let aid in but Al Shabaab has gone back on it's word already. How can we help if they threaten aid workers?
