Burn cards are needed because if a card is marked on the back, a player can know what card is coming and bet accordingly. If that top card is burned, there is no way to know what card is coming before it is dealt. They can only know one card that is NOT coming, which is far less detrimental.

I have a question. Why does texas hold'em burn cards? Just out of random curiosity. Is it to prevent cheating? Because burn cards piss me off if they burn the cards that I need. LOL.

I know it's not right but some players in the past kept forgetting and causing arguments / fights with other players. We always burn when we're away from our HQ. well spotted sir.
