O, Divine Redeemer song by Kenniecia Grant of the Columbia Collegiate Chorale.

O, Divine Redeemer
by Charles Gounod

Ah! Turn me not away,
Receive me tho' unworthy:
(repeat)
Hear Thou my cry,
Behold, Lord, my distress!
Answer me from thy throne.
Haste Thee, Lord, to mine aid,
Thy pity show in my deep anguish!
(repeat)
Let not the sword of vengeance smite me,
Though righteous thine anger,
O Lord! Shield me in danger,
O regard me!
On Thee, Lord, alone will I call!

O Divine Redeemer! O Divine Redeemer!
I pray Thee, grant me pardon,
And remember not, remember not my sins!

Forgive me, O Divine Redeemer!
I pray Thee, grant me pardon,
And remember not, remember not my sins!
Night gathers round my soul.
Fearful, I cry to Thee;
Come to mine aid, O Lord!
Haste Thee, Lord, haste to help me!
Hear my cry! Hear my cry! Save me Lord in Thy mercy;
Come and save me, O Lord.
Save, in the day of retribution.

From Death shield Thou me, O my God!
O Divine Redeemer, have mercy!
Help me, my Savior!

  • Good technique for a young singers but the voice lack power and depth. I suspect some imitation from her teacher or someone the she admire. Need to learn how to connect the upper voic to th lower. voice when decending. I applaud you for trying to createas much Drama as possible but i sense that the voice wants to state distorting in the upper when because of tention either notice or not. Over all the performance was great considering its a young singer and I would love to here the voice again

  • She has one more that I uploaded("Deep River") The recording quality is the same which is very poor(mono I believe). This recording quality should be consider when critiquing the singer. I do not know her personally but it sounded a lot better live in person than in this recording.

  • Hey, this is J. Garza, where was this? When was this?---(p.s. K, you sound great!)

  • This was performed at Pisgah Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Maryland on Sabbath day for AYS. I hope this helps. :-)

  • Wonderful, wonderful, I loved her voice and her ability to manage it. Beautiful.

  • Beautiful performance... as for the young girl in the background who snickers and can't seem to focus on what's in front of her, I suggest she begin thinking about all the people in choir as a team. I hope whoever you are you read this comment: you were a distraction from this beauty. Grow up and discipline yourself. Respect your peers.

  • @pwcfuster There is no telling what she sounds like today!!! Beautiful voice; I hope you kept up your wonderful singing.

  • This was absolutely beautiful, your enunciation allowed me to understand more of the words of this celestial piece. -Best I've heard on you tube.

  • All these posts are so *old*. You did well, poppet and I hope you've continued your vocal studies; there's something in there, explore it.

  • what a beautiful voice.

  • Amazing. She looked so young in the picture in the options that I almost passed up her version thinking it was just a little girl pretending to be an opera singer. She has the depth in her voice of a more mature (I'll just say it, older) singer. Kudos and hopefully we will see Kennicia in a professional venue soon.

  • excellent emoting and expression! The recording prob. could have been better as I was having trouble hearing crisp consonants and other words. Would love to sing with this girl but I'm in Florida now. :) She should join the National Christian choir as I was a part of them for 6 yrs. They are in Gaithersburg. Their Director appreciates soloists who can emote well.

  • Absolutely Beautiful!!

I sat there and nearly melted away as my heart raised to the final climax of this performance. Thank you for the posting this video.

Dear God please forgive me my sins also.
