Youssou N'Dour Concert at World Bank on World Malaria Day

Malaria kills 3000 people every day--mostly African children.Leading up to World Malaria Day, Youssou N'Dour and top World Bank officials call for stepped-up action.

At his first World Malaria Day concert, held at the World Bank , Youssou N'Dour highlighted the need for more action and more partners in the global effort to defeat malaria.

In introductory remarks, World Bank President, Robert B Zoellick and Vice President for Africa Obiageli Ezekwesili emphasized malaria's debilitating effect on the poor especially and stressed the need to quickly expand the use of effective drugs, nets, and insectides.

The event was organized by the World Bank's Booster Program for Malaria Control in Africa.
