Sexual morality is a BIG issue in the Church these days. The lack of consistent preaching has created a world of woes for Catholics specifically and the world at large.

  • Another problem with the teaching in the paroquial level is homossexuality. I happen to be gay and I know myself as such since early childhood, and I found two different answers from low-ranking church members before I decided to convert:

    1) you are despicable and will burn in hell because this was a choice. And:

    2) oh it's okay, don't mind those olde guys, do whatever you want as long as you know God loves you, that all will be okay. Like Sue Johanson says: have fun.

    - Hard to reach balance!

  • @alonelychild For the appropriate response (I would not call it "balanced" because both of the above approaches are completely wrong) see our video "Catholic & Homosexual"

  • @RealCatholicTV Although in your video about the bishops' lack of response to the extinction of "Don't Ask Don't Tell", you did seem to equate homosexuality to evil. Can you explain this, please? Thanks and God Bless

  • @PerriVerde Homosexual acts are disordered and immoral; they are evil in that they are opposed to God. Same sex attraction is a temptation and a temptation is not, in and of itself, evil. To give in to it, or to invite it, or to "play with fire" so to speak is evil. Those people who struggled with temptations (of any sort) and resist them are to be commended.

  • @rock4p The fact you think killing an innocent child who did NOTHING to anyone simply because someone else (who in the vast, vast majority of cases CHOSE to have sex!) decides it might be unfortunate is sometimes "the best choice" tells me and everyone else everything we need to know about you.

You are fundamentally selfish - willing to kill in order to ensure the enjoyment of those who have been irresponsible.

  • @rock4p And that is the CORE of this for you, isn't it? It is about what one human being wants, over and above the LIFE of another. The number of abortions as a result of rape is also fractionary - a miniscule percentage. 80% of abortions are a result of failed contraception, less than 1% for rape or incent or the life of the mother.

As Rebecca Kiessling and those on her website if rape should equal abortion. She'd be dead now if it should.

  • @RealCatholicTV Personally, I'd rather that women didn't have abortions, but sometimes it's the best choice. There are loads of situations in which a woman's life can be practically destroyed by having a child, and that woman might then resent that child for coming along and ruining her life.

If a woman becomes pregnant from being raped, should that woman be forced to keep the child? Should she be forced to remember the horrific event every day when she sees her kid?

  • @rock4p A significant percentage of women going to have abortions state SPECIFICALLY they are having an abortion because their contraception failed. If these women were not using contraception, then they would get pregnant and raise the child - which is (if you add in breast feeding) a year or two of no pregnancy. In addition, most people are having extra-marital or pre-marital sex - which is a moral evil and should be avoided because (among other reasons) it leads to abortion.

  • @rock4p "The Pill" is actuall abortive - if it fails to prevent ovulation, it prevents implantation (abortion) or actually kills the baby after implantation (abortion). In any case, contraceptives are a moral evil not JUST because they directly cause abortions - they also lead to an abortive mentality as supported by the simple rise in number of abortions since the legalization of contraceptives.

  • @rock4p Lovely theory, not supported by any facts or statistics. The number of abortions rises as contraceptives are used, because they encourage a mentality (as you say) where people desire to avoid children - so they abort them. These people become pregnant at a much more frequent rate than those who are having children - and they abort (often using "the pill" which is, contrary to popular opinion, abortive in many cases.)
