We were so surprised to receive this delightful xmas message from Khwan Barton, and I asked her if I could share it on YouTube. So here it is.

It's very appropriate as our first contact with Paul and Khwan was not so much because of Paul's celebrated piano channel as through a shared interest in wildlife and wildlife rescue. As you see in the video, Khwan is also an accomplished wildlife artist, and Paul and Khwan together support elephant rescue in Thailand. They help rescue these great beasts of the jungle . . and I rescue owls! Voilà.

Do visit Paul and Khwan's "Artists for Elephants" channel, where there are many interesting and informative videos made by this talented pair:

She says that sculpture and drawing have kept her too busy to make videos recently but promises she will try to post more next year!

Khwan's barn owl is among the best owl sculptures I have seen. The character of this owl, one of the world's most elegant and beautiful, is perfectly captured. And imagine making those long wings in clay! I find myself reminded of one of the most striking sculptures from the ancient world -- the winged victory of Samothrace.

Thank you Khwan. Happy Christmas 2010!

PS for picky people: Yes, the calls heard near the beginning are those of a Barred Owl!!
