A photo video diary of a cycling tour of a Geordie and three Russians around the Highlands of Scotland during a sunny summer period in 2011. We only got wet once, but, of course, it was on the first day!
The trip was a cycling tour from Fort William, via the Isles of Skye and Mull, including hikes in the Cuillin hills and to MacCulloch's Cave, to Oban. We saw some amazing scenery, enjoyed troublefree wild camping, sampled amazing whiskey, beer, haggis, neets and tatties, visited many castles, got savaged by midgies and made many memories. Some of the key landmarks were: Fort William, Eilian Donan Castle, Sligachan, Cuillin Hills, Mallaig, Tobermory, MacCulloch's Cave, Duart Castle, Torosay Castle, Craignure, Dunstaffnage Castle, Falls of Lora, Oban, and, naturally, Oban Distillery!
We hope you enjoy this video and, if you're still thinking of where to go for your next holiday, we strongly recommend visiting this area, it's truly beautiful!
The accompanying soundtrack consists of the following music:
Border Reiver (Mark Knopfler, Get Lucky, 2009, Universal/Warner Bros.)
Chevaliers de Sangreal (Hans Zimmer, The Da Vinci Code, 2006, Decca)
For the Love of a Princess (James Horner, Braveheart, 1995, Decca)
Lough Corrib (Celtic Family, Celtic Moods, 1995, Virgin)
Highland (Blackmore's Knight, Autumn Sky, 2010, Spinefarm/Sony/Ariola)
Bicycle Race (Queen, Jazz, 1978, EMI/Elektra)
Note, the copyright of the above tracks is owned by the artists, recording company and/or third parties.
@trailpeakgord Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
The whole trip was 10 days (including some train time, which didn't make the video!) but we could've stayed for 10 times as long, if only the world of work wasn't summoning us home!
