Directed by Anthony Quinn, who was married to Katherine DeMille at the time, therefore old C.B.'s son-in-law, at least while the marriage lasted. He created a stage bound but luxuriantly colorful and atmospheric film, with Brynner going against the typecasting that kept him in the public eye as the King of Siam--his Lafitte is pretty good, and Heston does his usual solid job. Very enjoyable adventure!

  • Another typical YouTube conversation going on here, that I can't see how relates to this awesome movie.

I wish they made movies like this today. I remember watching this on VHS when I was about eleven- just as good now as it was then!

    Thanks so much for posting.

  • @aniohevetisrael thanks

  • @ghfakar Due to economic affluence usa has been put in a somewhat unique positioj where women which were genetically programmed in assisting mails in creating a family have now due to economic prosperity been liberated from dependence, and as any inferiror being they immediately moved to immitate men and badly without finnese

  • Unfortunately there are no more great men. It is all about greed and corporations. Me,Me,Me,Me.

  • @kurtnmia Usa is in decline for sure. But all empires go this way. Human hubris is only temporary in this world

  • Love this movie. It depicts the arrogance of the US Government and it's willingness to disregard it's own word.

Ask the natives and Mexico about their "word"..

  • @mvies77 Hopefully my last post made sense. I am terrible at this. Anyway, I must say I am confused how this whole thing started. Maybe because some rogue men treated them so badly they decided to get back at us? I don't get it. What self respecting female wants to look like, say, well, ME??! I hope not! I couldn't even think of having to look at more than ONE of myself! Well, enough of the self deprecating humor! Geez. Chicks with muscles, YIKES! Firm okay, NO MUSCLE.

  • @mvies77 I stand corrected. My uh, bad? Trying to get with this new lingo! Well what can I say but HEE HAW! The sound of an a.. Well, let us refrain from the foul language! Yeah, that distresses me as well. But what amazes me is their response. They say I am somehow threatened by strong women? Geez. Not. I have to respond to other males with force at times so I am a LITTLE too busy dealing with that to add women to my problems! Besides, women scare me in a MUCH different way! COMMITMENT

  • @ghfakar Did you even read my comment about women? I said the total opposite of your little tirade against me. I was talking about acting! Of course I do not think all women were pirates.I pointed out a remake would be a bad idea to me also because the actress of today would play the part in a more masculine way. Why? Due to our society at present pressuring women to act like men instead of intelligent, self confident, feminine WOMEN. See I can yell just like you! I admired Thatcher, by the way.

  • @cryostation And taking away a man/womans will to try is very evil. To smash someones dreams or convince them they are nothing and unimportant is the most cruel thing you can do. Even death is not as bad. I know. I have been crushed not by anyone in particular, mostly by my own inability to adapt and accept tough times. It did me no good to say" it's not fair". It didn't help. I am in the same predicament. We have to learn to mind our own business and try even harder.

  • @cryostation Individualism has been replaced with gang mentality based on race, religion, economics etc. No one is a true individual anymore. And the government does everything in its power to keep us here. A man/woman with grit and determination can do much. But if they believe there is no hope, why would they try? If you tell inter city kids that whitey or some other perceived enemy is keeping them down, they will believe it. They will not try. You will destroy their ambition.

  • @cryostation I suggest economics themselves though important had NOTHING to do with the current confusion on sex and the role of men/women. That is thanks to the liberals who would have been communists a few years before or if they had come from somewhere that didn't share the same freedoms we here in the states do. Class envy, victim hood are all part of what is happening to us. Not enough of us share the burden. We simply whine that we don't get our way>too lazy to do anything.

  • @cryostation I have a better idea. I will continue to consider myself of the STRONGER sex. No reasonable argument to that would stand. However I acknowledge that without women even after my birth, life would have been miserable if not impossible. And I suspect that MOST women would say the same of men. Hey, if you walk up in their face and tell them they are NOTHING but slaves, what do you expect? They will react with contempt in return. Respect must be a two lane street.
