Nobody here is smart enough to understand this scene.

The whole "you're descended from niggers" rant is a way for hopper to test his lie detector as Walken has just said he can always tell when someone is lying.

The claim is ridiculous and he asks "am I lying?" and then " cause you're part eggplant" to show that even Walken can be fooled and that it was a ridiculous "fact" all along.

That's why they're laughing, Hopper was fucking with him. And now everyone's trying to argue the anthropology

@MrRealitycheque Um......Eggplant: slang; A word used by Italian-Americans to describe a person of African descent. e.g.: (Man, speaking to a Sicilian who is allegedly descended from niggers) "You, you're part eggplant."

Tarantino would definitely be aware of this slang definition, so the word's use is not coincidental. It's intentional.

The ACTUAL point of the scene is that Hopper's rant is merely an elaborate "fuck you" to Walken. Plain and simple.
