@fadcdrake Conservatism is a political philosophy, not a party. The late founder of the "National Review," William Buckley, Jr, was a Conservative (with a capital C, as he would emphasize). Although he supported Republican candidates like US Senator Barry Goldwater, Buckley identified first as a conservative, second as a Republican, so please do not conflate public intellectuals of his ilk with Elizabeth Hasselbeck, let alone disgraced "Tea Party" candidates like Christine O'Donnell and Palin.
