Hypocrisy?
Both Hiroshima and Nagasaki had no Military Base(s) nor any Standing Army, only civilians. Neither had any Military Value either, and since all men of Fighting Age who used to live there were gone, had only women, children, and old people. Yet, we CHOSE to bomb both of them and BBQ'ed those civilians. The US deliberately BBQ'ed civilians... hundreds of thousands of them. But nobody said anything. It's OK.
But 9/11 happens, and we CRY!!
It's WAR!!

That is why VE Day happened first. Only after VE Day did America get serious with Japan.
And made short work of Japan by dropping TWO Atom Bombs on innocent civilians (read: "HIROSHIMA", by John Hersey)... VJ Day followed shortly thereafter.
Japan was an afterthought. GERMANY was the REAL GOAL of FDR.

"...Atom Bombs on innocent civilians..." from your words i might actually be mistaken that American marines were guilty, and needed to be punished with PH.. war is all about innocent people dying.. if hitler hadn't started killing innocent Jews I dount if there was any WWII.
