Esperanto is phonetic, that means the spelling is very easy. Grammatical rules have no exceptions. Vocabulary can be learnt relatively quickly even by people who don't speak a European language thanks to the wide use of prefixes and suffixes. Esperanto is a bit like Lego. On this video you'll see 2 issues of El Popola Cinio, the Chinese magazine entirely in Esperanto. This is the third part of a talk I made a couple of years ago for future language teachers at the University of Sydney. It is read by my friend Pat.

  • aren't there only like 1 million esperanto speakers in the world? if thats the case then whats the point? i bet if you walked up to 10 people and asked them whats esperanto all of them wouldnt know what the hell you were talking about.

  • To how many people would you like to talk to? What's your point? If your point is only to use people to be able to buy something or ask your way to the station then there is no point in learning Esperanto, but if you want to meet people and be able to speak to them on an equal footing about anything, then Esperanto is very useful, when I travel it is enough for me to find a handful of Esperanto speakers in a City and get to know them really well.

  • anto is used for participles, it gets added to verbs, for example:

    paroli = to speak

    parolanto = speaker, the one who is now speaking

    parolinto = the one who spoke in the past

    parolonto = the one who will speak

    Simlish isn't a legit language.

  • Sadly esperanto is not a official language

  • Don't the Sims speak that?

  • @TheMchap123 It's really fun. Good luck! -- Estas tre amuza. Bonan ŝancon!

  • @craigistheman101 I agree. It's a self-fulfilling prophesy. So let's just get out there and learn Esperanto! xD Mi konsentas kun vi. Estas antaŭdiro ke kompletas ĝin mem. Tiuokaze ni lernu Esperanton!

  • @Bira8Fehera Saluton el Usono, amik(in)o. Nun mi lernas esperantan lingvon, sed baldaŭ mi komencos lerni la portugalan de via nacio.

  • @0neofthem that mentality is why not a lot of people speak esperanto. if instead of saying wats the point people said im going to help the language grow and expand that issue would no longer exist and millions of people who speak esperanto. and actually its somewhere between 2-10 million speak esperanto

  • Saluton el Brazilo !!!

  • Mi parolas Esperanton kaj mia vivkunulo ankaŭ. Both my life partner and I speak Esperanto. We use it to communicate with other internationally minded people from around the world.
