This afternoon, more than 2,000 working people rallied outside the Senate to showcase the widespread public support for the legislation that will give workers back the freedom to bargain for better wages and benefits: the Employee Free Choice Act. Theo Jackson, one of the workers who spoke at the rally today, worked as a case manager at a substance abuse recovery center in Scotts Valley, CA before he was fired for leading the organizing campaign that led to a successful election to unionize his workplace.
I worked hard every day to help people struggling with addictions get better, but I was fired for speaking out about the changes my coworkers and I needed to support our families and provide the best care for our patients," Theo said. "That shouldnt happen in America." Watch Theo's first-hand testimony about why the Employee Free Choice Act is important to him.

  • God speed my union brothers and sisters, never let them take your voice away from you. This economic feudalism must end!

  • Workers will only be free when the workers can own the work place and democratically manage it with other worker owners, taking home representative shares of their true value as labor and shares of the prosperity of their company as worker owners.

In Europe they call this a Worker Cooperative, in America they do not even allow us to know that this business model exists, and if we fight for it, they call us socialists, without ever saying what socialism actually is.
