Compiled ffmpeg suite on Windows 7. There's a large amount of artifacting on the video; I simply used to first screencapture program I found. I only show the conversion of the test video from .mp4 to .avi using ffmpeg, which displays the cmdutils change. After the video is done converting, I play it using ffplay-- again, it's not exactly the best video recorder, so there's no sound, and the colors are all wrong. Note that the sound does play properly through my speakers.

In the middle of the conversion process I bring up a notepad file that shows the (rough) steps I took to get ffmpeg to compile properly. In general, a lot of patchwork. If there's any questions about the precise steps, leave a comment and I'll try to get back to you.

Enjoy!
