@CalicoPaints That doesn't mean anything. Size of your foot doesn't determine if you can do heal-toe or not. You have to watch drumlessonscom's heal-toe technique video.

The triple looks like the Moeller.

@CalicoPaints Get longboards.

@aakkoin I think Portnoy raised the bar for drummers in his hey day, but now that you can find more technical drummers all over the place (influenced by him and a lot of other players) he gets left behind. You're right though, he has a set of techniques that he kinda makes his own, but it got old pretty fast.

@mamanatare1 Everyone has a different preference... you just have to toy around with yours. I made the mistake of using full spring tension for a show once because death metal drummers always have those... and halfway through the set, I thought my shin was going to snap... so I'm going to give my vague preference... tight enough for a good response, not too tight that it might give you a hernia or a cramp.

I have wondered why Mike Portnoy won a shitload of awards and was an unquestionable drum GOD for years... He basically taught me to do double strokes with a double pedal, then I got sick of it cause he did it ALL THE TIME and his music was getting duller and duller and there is so much better music made allaround... Now I don't really need double pedals much...
and it's funny now that Dream Theater took Mike Mangini as the drummer, everyones is like "Well Portnoy wasn't that good anyway..."

@mamanatare1 a super good fusion drummer Simon Phillips uses then very loose, but I bet someone prefers tight as hell, I suggest using medium tension until you really find the tension that suites the pedal and you.
