DAEGU, South Korea 02/09/2011 - Two-time Olympic champion Veronica Campbell-Brown of Jamaica won the women's 200 metres at the world championships Friday, beating 100 gold medallist Carmelita Jeter of the United States.

Three-time defending champion Allyson Felix of the United States had to settle for bronze.

Campbell-Brown had already won silver in the 100 and finished the 200 in a season's best of 22.22 seconds, 0.15 faster then Jeter, who fell just short of the first sprint double in two decades.

Felix was third in 22.42.

  • @MrFlexybee Honestly, I don't think Felix has the endurance. She could be faster if she works on endurance, but I don't think her coach knows anything about that or proper drills and therapy for it. I just think she should switch coach because she didn't improve on her 200m and I think her 400m remained consistent or have a slight improvement. But hey, where will see at London.

  • @MrFlexybee When I see Felix sprints she does several things wrong. I don't think she has knowledgeble coaches regardless how long they been in the game. It's apparent they don't know anything in physiology, flexibility, kinetics, and breathing. I just don't think she trains right or properly. I've seen several of her workouts and practice session and they look like play time. She did well in the 400m but was burned out which shouldn't happen. I wish I could coach her.

  • @phebeharris Not that am defending Allyson but i think the 400m she run in Daegu cuz her a lot of strength hence reducing her speed as well.in most of her interviews you realised she concentrated more on the 400m done 200 bcos she thought she had a lot of exepreince in the 200m. And with Jeter for her first time try she took silver in a strong field, meaning if she put certain things right with John Smith then she will be equal to the task.

  • @MrFlexybee I get what you saying about VCB, but I honestly think that Felix and Jeter can't challenge her. I don't see those two winning it over her but I can see SAF or a surprise from someone else. Jeter has the speed but not technique, Felix is missing speed, SAF has speed and technique. SAF has been practicing and working on her 200m technique for some time now and I think she will come out in 2012. She will be a threat in the 200m.

  • @phebeharris And also there are so many things that can happen within a year ,so i agree on ur point that there could be new winners(just as Fraser came from no where to win in Beijing). But you also have to know that experience matters a lot, those that have been there for many years can still go into it a win.Vcb is not untouchable as you making it seem to be cuz if she was then Helsinki,Osaka and Berlin would neva have happened. It is still anybody's race.Fact

  • @MrFlexybee It's not necessarily Demus age. I wonder if she is putting the time into it. You have to dedicate to the sport and as her being a mother I don't know if that is her priority. I doubt she's out and about drilling, practicing, or working on technique. For Felix, there are so many girls that can take the 200m title. In 2012 I don't think it will look like it did in Daegu. There will be some upsets and new winners. VCB I don't doubt, but Felix or Jeter is questionable.

  • @phebeharris And also i will like you to know that the present womens races are not predictable like that of the mens were everyone knows Bolt win and destroy any feild. It is always different when it comes to the women races, you cant predict until they cross the finish line. When the ladies line up they give each other a good run for their money.Maybe when the diamond race begins for this year we can predict possible outcomes at the Olympics.Fact

  • @phebeharris I respect your opinion. As for Demus she is aging so i know Merlin will surely retain her title. But for Allyson i cant simply do that considering what she has done in the sport and the number of medals she has.And also she is in her mid 20's as well, all she need to do is to put one or two things right. When Allyson won in Osaka we all thought she was the clear favourite for Bejing but Vcb pulled a sorprise.the fact that Allyson is 3rd here does mean we should write her of
