  • Where I am working, now, we have never restrained anyone. Patients are usually agreeable to an injection to calm down. I emphasize, usually, because some are resistant. We only use injectables as the primary source of handling very agitated patients. We do not restrain. I find that phenomenal.

  • *hospitals are like jails*

  • I work in a diff hosp, now, in a diff state. Wanted a change of pace. Place where I work, now doesn't use restraints at all. We find most patients are agreeable to meds that will help calm them, including injections, that work quickly. It's all a matter of how you approach a patient. I always place myself in their shoes and ask, "How would I want to be treated?" I am open to negotiation. A patient won't comply with treatment, if he/she disagrees. These are adults. They have rights and choices.

This is hogwash. When you speak of short staff and you use the excuse that lack of man power and time forces "care workers" to restrain patients, you are already in the wrong. You are perpetuating a system that abuses patients and manufacturers excuses for doing so.

You chose to speak for "all the mental hospital workers{" as if they all behave he same. That is a crock. Most of the sadists and sociopaths that work in these facilities carry out their abuses when they are alone.

  • Anger is often an expression of fustration, and fustration in the mental health INDUSTRY is perceived as violence, erratic behavour and a 'threat to themselves or others' (mental health is big pennies in the US) in the UK doctors think they're gods, in the US they treat patients as cash cows, you'll see if you or your loved one is admitted and their insurance runs out, see how quickly the doctor says they are perfectly well when it's obvious they are not!!

  • @ababyinthesun Not really. If your a threat to yourself or others its important to make sure that person is safe and anyone else is safe.

  • is quadruple the dosage of the drugs you mentioned bad for you?

  • @Addydawn google ABRAM HOFFER.

oh and Y U NO REALIZE ITS AGAINST THE LAW IN CANADA TO DRUG SOMEBODY AGAINST THEIR WILL>

  • This may be accurate for how it is in one institution, but I think the treatment must vary a lot from one place to another. There are some institutions where the workers will violently "restrain" or seclude someone for even the most innocent behavior if it seems the least bit unusual, and there are other places where people are treated relatively humanely. This video is misleading because it purports to give people an idea of what to expect if they are admitted to any psychiatric hospital.

  • when i was in the asylum for catatonia, delirium and confabulation i was help in restraints at all times even when i had my haldol, i personally think and believe from experience they dont care, they think 'put him in restraints and leave him' i was a patient, you've obviously been brainwashed like the rest of them.

  • This man is basically a spokesperson for the psychiactric system some might say a disinformation agent. If you can detect a rhythmic bulging in his neck - its because he's talking out of it.
