  • Good luck with your decision. What are you looking to do with the fixed blade? Some options (Field pup) are more utility and some are harder use (ESEE 4)... depends on what you want! I have a Spyderco Moran Orange up for sale too ;p

  • @spsilvgo I want a big ass fixed blade for chopping and battoning :D!!! I have slimmed down my options, and i'm leaning toward the Ontario GEN II SP43 (not in the video) and the Ka-Bar BK-7 or BK-9

  • @TheLazySpoiledKitty just to give you more data points, hopefully not confuse your decision :)

  • @spsilvgo alright i'll check it out :D, i'm really at 70% for the SP43 and 30% for the BK-7..... HELP Sue :D, i've been getting mixed opinions ;P. This is an important purchase for me i want to be sure i'm spending lots of money on a STURDY and good knife :).

  • @TheLazySpoiledKitty How about a Kabar Heavy Bowie? Approved by nutnfancy, extreme value for the buck no doubt.

  • i really dig the bk-9 camp knife

  • rat 3

  • @TheLazySpoiledKitty Hmm, the SP 43 is 8"... for the 8" category I like the SP 49.. more belly drop pt, less spear pt, hollow grind vs the full flat... I haven't chopped with either so I'm not sure if it would really be better at chopping. I just like the looks of the SP 49 better :) The SP 43 looks more like a kill knife

  • @TheLazySpoiledKitty Ontario SP 52 is more comparable in size to the BK 9. Check out TuhonsBillMcgs "Ontario Blade Grinds" vid for chopping demo... The SP 47 looks nice too if you want smaller/lighter chopper

  • it all depends on what you want to use it for... heavy duty id go with the becker but if its just light utility use go with the kabar 1211
