Honda SL 125

1973 Honda SL 125. Been standing for 15 years and now runs very well. Tyres still had air in them after 15 years! Cleaned the petrol tap, tank, carb, earth points, replaced air filter foam and spark plug. Its amazing how much power its actually got for a 125. Sorry for the poor vid quality, took it with my phone. More vids coming with better quality and with me riding it.

Was the motor seized?

@john47999 Nice. I just picked up a 73 Cl125S with an SL motor.

The motor is seized cause it hasn't ran since 1978. The previous owner attempted to start working on it, but he snapped the spark plug in half in the head.

I'm in the process of rebuilding the motor right now. I'm not sure what to do about the transmission though.

Did you have any problems with your tranny after not being ridden for a long time?

@Bosmob No, mine seemed all good. I can't really remember how it was when I first rode it. Sure it was ok though and all was good. Post some vids and pics, I would like to see how things go :) Good luck

Almost everyone says the SL125 engine starts up within a few tries. Amazing quality 4 stroke engine, just not the power house of the 2 strokes of the same size and age. Doubt those start right up.

Oh the memories. My very first bike was a silver SL125 exactly like this one.

I had one...bought from a friend in '74 and had til the early 80's. Great bike !! Wish I still had it.
