Open Carry on Nightline

The gun debate continues to brew in Virginia, where memories of the Virginia Tech shootings are still raw. One group is at work defending its "right to keep and bear arms." The Virginia Citizen's Defense League (VCDL) is in full-force behind "open carry" laws. ABC's John Donvan reports.

Sure guns are valuable on the street - but so is a winning lottery ticket. It doesn't mean you're going to win.

Your plan of killing home owners in their sleep is idiotic. They could just happen to wake up in the middle of the night, or a dog could bark at you and wake the owner up. There's a million factors that you can't foresee.

Only the suicidal or stupid would purposely break into a gun owners home while they're there.

Why don`t they all just stay indoors, and never venture ouside, if they think the world is out to get them.....PARANOID , everyone of them. I`ve lived in 7 different countries around the world, including the USA, where i am now. I `ve never been attacked, robbed, raped or even threatened, and i have never even held a gun in my 43 years on this earth. I have always found that being friendly, respectful of everyone and confident has serverd me well.

Too all of you who think open carry makes u a target, i open carry because it is a deterrent. It keeps the "bad guy" away. And as long you have a retention holster no punk will be able to pull your gun off your hip.

To repeat what I said is important. WE, THE PEOPLE is at the begining of the Constitution. Notice the comma then the words THE PEOPLE. Notice THIS SAME PRINTING IN THE 2 AMENDMENT. Notice that 4 supreme judges trashed THE PEOPLE meaning for their personal and political beliefs? I consiider their action as TRESON!

This is precisely why untrained goobers shouldn't be aloud to carry guns and why the forefathers of the constitution clearly stated gun ownership in the hands of a well regulated militia.

most people that carry pay attention to the world around them, if you can spot the trouble your chances of avoidance is greater. If you can not avoid then you have the fire arm as a means of self defense.
