Theredbari, you'd be surprised at my education and musical credentials. I repeat, " Vive la difference" when it comes to musical taste but intellectual snobbery is part of the elitist image of opera and you just kicked a big goal for that negative image. It's just sad if you think hearing music is an intellectual exercise. Pavarotti had a much more inclusive attitude and he's on record praising Helmut Lotti and his music. Ditto Monserrat Caballe. You're entitled to your opinion.. but not mine.
@memsie523 Hey, don't blame the educated for your shortcomings. I mean...they study language, style, history, technique, acting, literature and music theory. Really....what do they know about anything. Bet you couldn't even find the melody if it hit you in the face. And we are judging him for this one, because he bastardized a piece of music...and we can judge because some of us are educated and know the difference between good and bad.
This is just an awful recording. I know opera has its fans but, for me, all that classical technique just kills the melody. I love that this guy sings like a bird does, straight up from the heart and he's usually right on the melody. Vive la difference:) Don't judge him by this one.
I want to give the people praising this food for thought: anyone who knows to value opera even a little, knows that it is the height of ignorance and unawareness to think this is 'great'. Please take the time to listen to and understand good operatic singing, and the nature of opera and you will experience something infinitely greater than this disgrace.
@memsie523 ..thanks for this comment. you find the right words and i think so too. lovely greetings

este tema requiere de voces más portentes...no es una buena interpretación.

This man should keep away from operatic arias. This is just an insult to opera, Puccini and all of the great tenors who have sung this aria.

Why do all these pop singers think they have to do this aria. Is it just plain ego or what. This is terrible!
