This is a very rare Kromhout type LK diesel engine, built in 1934! This is a lightweight version, built mostly out of aluminium. The engine was designed by Gardner, but built under license by Kromhout. The engine was used during second world war a pump engine inside a big water tower. The engine is a four cilinder, four stroke diesel engine.

  • Thanks for the compliment. I'm sure you can find a lot of books on Gardner engines in the UK and UK book websites. Good luck on the restoration!

  • On Ebay.au there is a parts book for sale for LK's.

  • Very good video! Thanks for sharing! I have been looking for Gardner 4LK engine because a friend has one installed on a Dodge Truck. The engine (my friends) was reconditioned in 1951, and now he is restoring the truck... Where can I get information about the Gardner 4LK engine? Thanks!

  • Excellent video, this engine is based on Gardner 4lk engine, 3.8 litres 3 3/4 inch bore by 5 1/4 inch stroke rated at 60bhp at 2100rpm for truck use. Can't beat a long stroke engine for low revs and torque.

  • @johnsenkenn The engine was made by Kromhout under licence of Joseph Gardner & sons of Manchester

  • @Wargod558

If it was under license, who made it in the first place.

  • This Engine was manufactured by Gardner Engines.

  • This engine was manufactured by Gardner under license, in Manchester England.

  • Now that's a rare engine and kak handed as well.

    Very nice restoration congratulations.

    Bill
