you can uninstall Adobe reader and install Foxit PDF reader, it is 10 times smaller than adobe reader

try using an offline PDF generator called CutePDF writer. I think its size would be much smaller than the Adobe's. And try to use smaller files. ie, if it is a text document, then divide it to make smaller before converting them to pdf
