The criticism of the Hercules montage misses the point. There are several jokes about fame and making fun of merchandizing. Air Herc has nothing to do with Disney but with Michael Jordan's Air Michael shoes. I think its a self conscious satyr of merchandizing. To say it is not historically accurate is like saying life of Brian is not historically accurate. This is in most ways a modern story with modern themes.

I don't believe for a second that a child playing with an action figure of any movie is trying to follow the script of that movie. They come up with their own adventures and imagine different and often better situations for their favorite characters. It's laughable that a doctor of all people would think otherwise.

Maybe, but I would also suggest that the children don't need the toys to play the movie. I remember often as a child needing to watch TV before I played with toys because I wanted ideas. Whenever I read a book, my toys, whatever brand, became those characters. Media influences imagination period, with or without the toys to re-enforce it.

what a weak documentary. i thought it was going to be about disney as a corporation actions, which they barely covered. a bunch of whining idiots with nothing better to do than nitpick children's movies. beauty and the beast's theme is to stick by an abusive husband? i thought it was to look past the surface to find inner beauty. guess my parents messed up big time

I can't tell if they're criticizing Walt Disney Pictures, a film distribution company which markets to children, Walt Disney Studios, the animation studio, or Disney Corperation, the parent comapny.

The Micheal Esener quote at the ene I think is taken out of context. He's not saying that they can make bad movies he's saying that the goal is to make money be it from children's cartoons, chidrean's movies, adult movies, news, sports, etc.

At the same time you must consider the time period which Disney is trying to portray. They can't soften history. You can't hide all the terrible things that went on and cover them up telling children don't watch that. It's just a less boring history lesson. Disney is to be watched by parents narrating the lessons to the children watching them. Children don't read between the lines, so parents need to tell kids what is right and wrong about the movie. To totally ban Disney... they will defy you.

OH MAN!!! i totally agree with you. i just typed up a four page essay voluntarily cuz im sick of all this racism towards white people (im black). it doesnt make any sense. the point of watching a movie is to ENJOY it. when you watch it for the sole reason of criticizing racits points ur taking the pint out of the movie and you are being an extremist.

I was a huge Disney lover when I was a kid but now I really don't like Disney. I think some of the racial stereotype arguments are valid, but the ones about the Hyenas were a little skeptical. What kind of accent do you expect the hyenas to have in AFRICA? I mean, I don't really know the true African accent, but if Disney didn't know then how is it of true discrimination? I am not taking any side, I'm just asking. The crows, I thought they were funny when I watched Dumbo. Everything is racist.

@TheBuenaventura93 yeah and that advertising clip from the movie seemed to me more like a parody of marketing to kids rather than marketing to kids in general. i wouldn've known that even as a little kid
