I live in the uk but visit Sydney often and have stayed in the McMahons Point area. It is blindingly obvious to me that the proposed Barangaroo buildings are way too tall and will dwarf the neighbouring buildings. In my opinion these tall blocks will destroy the look and character of Sydney. Why not at least make them fit in with the surroundings. Thank goodness the plan is to be reviewed. The existing scheme reeks of "vested interests".

sydney CBD land is the most expansive in the country. thats why they have less construction compared to melbourne where the land is cheaper.

Ha ha. The maritime history?? Of what a concrete wasteland that is there now?
Anyway i think you are simply misinformed. That model was for proposed envelope heights. You can rest assured that it is nothing like that. I suggest you go to barangaroo official site to actually see what is going up.
I do feel for you as you would have bought you apartment for the views. I guess i would also feel for the buildings east from yours that also lost out their views when you same apartment went up.

The only thing you've managed to demonstrate is that you own an almost waterfront unit and you want to keep your view. You are correct though, it's really going to be shame that the last of Sydney's "martime history" - an eyesore of concrete and bitumen - will be lost forever in favour a huge public park and direly needed office space.
It's a weak attempt at concealing personal motives as "the greater good". I'm sure you didn't care when your unit blocked the view of your neighbours, did you?

The Barangaroo model looks fantastic! I wish the towers were taller though. Sydney buildings are so short comparing to Melbourne. What a shame.

SEARCH ON YOUTUBE "Premier's Sales Pitch" Check out the latest design mate, pull your socks up - pop on a smile... Here you go - it looks pretty good actually! (None of Sydney actually looks like the bland and without detail council model, does it?? Especially in the painted white planning stage.) It needs to be paid for some how.. Bigger would be better!! It is a slab of concrete right now.. Corporate greed - that's a lil silly.. Old fears, from small minds..

I'm not so sure it's all that intelligent to attempt to inform ourselves on the outcome of this development based on those white blocks!?! Don't you think? It doesn't look all that bad from the very last shot you used - A little like a hand, fingers outstretched, giving views into our city.. (BUT - where are our 3d digital models rendered as utterly realistic as possible??) I really like your suggestion of constructing "wonderful urban development." Can this design be improved upon? I wonder....
The fact that this guy is complaining from his apartment window really makes you think what "Friends Of Barangaroo" is all about: people with vested interests in the development.

We desperately need urban density. We need density to have easier transport, and make at least one city in Oz a truly global city. I think it looks brilliant, and if anything we need more of this. Coming from a green city like New York, (where walking and subway is the no 1 transport) I always find Sydney a little bit dinky. Its a step in the right direction. Sorry. I guess people will always differ in what aesthetic to build, and that's something that needs to be thrashed out for sure.
