Backstory:
Klaus met Elena before he knew that he'd have to kill her to break the curse placed on him. They fall in love and when he gets told that he'll have to drain her, he makes her forget him to make it easier for both of them.
What he didn't know is that because of her friends, she'd come back to life, remembering everything
