This is my first "spotlight" video on "Kamandi The Last Boy On Earth," an early 1970's comic book series written and drawn by the immortal Jack Kirby. If you find yourself interested in survival oriented comic books such as "The Walking Dead," "DMZ," or "Y The Last Man," then I can almost guarantee that you will enjoy "Kamandi The Last Boy On Earth."

  • Great spotlight on Kamandi. I just picked up a whole stack of beat up issues of Kamandi recently. Time to get reading!!

  • @davidsquall351 Oh yeah, out of all the DC books Kirby wrote in the 1970's, Kamandi, in my opinion, was the best. Even more than Kirby's fourth world characters, I always thought Kamandi was the most interesting (and most consistently written).

  • well brother...what can I say? perfect...the title is awesome and the video was great!! job well done man :)

  • @koestenbraumstar Thanks for the nice comments. I really appreciate that! My plan is to do these "spotlight' videos on "off-beat" characters that are often overlooked yet have tremendous influence in shaping their respective comic book universes. So keep an eye out!

  • Hey, great to see Kamandi on YouTube. Jack Kirby was easily my most favorite comic book artist, writer, etc. I have ALL of the original Kamandi books. I keep them in a metal box. I think all are in bags, most with boards. You should also read OMAC, One Man Army Corps, it overlaps into Kamandi at the end of the 70's run. I also read the New Gods, Sandman, etc. Kirby deeply inriched my childhood. You posted this on my 48th birthday, 01/01/2011. Please, keep on keeping on. : )

  • @JaminRebel Will do! The character Kamandi has always been close to my heart. I think I just have an affinity towards characters that deal with alienation. So expect something from the Hulk, Silver Surfer, characters like this in the future.

  • Command D -- where he lived as a child...

  • Nice video review on Kamandi; count me among those who love the original Kirby Kamandi run. I've got all 59 and at one point had about 10 pgs original art from the run, including several Kirby pgs. Appreciate hearing your comments, supergreyhulk!

  • anyone know how much an issue of kamandi issue one would go for? its original

  • I remember "Kamandi, Last Boy on Earth" comic. I generally did'nt get into comics... but I loved everything Kirby did. His "Galacticus" series was pretty amazing.... a smart thing for hollywood to do would be to resurrect some of the Kirby stories and make 3-d movies of them (and I hope the oppurtunistic bastards do... I like 3-d movies... and Kirby had a good story line also in his stuff)

  • Hey, SuperGreyhulk! Sweet! I'm glad I found this channel! Kirby's Kamandi is one of my all-time favorite comic runs. Kamandi is probably the best out of all of Jack's "overlooked" projects that seem to fall under the radar, even nowadays. I'm a big Kirby fan, if you can't tell. Keep the great review videos coming.

  • @masipag999 Thanks very much. I appreciate your comments! I've always had some affinity for Kamandi and characters in general that deal with alienation (Hulk, Daredevil, etc.).
