Hazel Park, Michigan - A gas tanker truck traveling on I-75 at 9 Mile Road crashes and explodes underneath the bridge. The intense fire causes the collapse of the 9 Mile Road bridge onto I-75. Video is a view from John R. Road just south of 9 Mile Road looking west toward I-75 and 9 Mile in Hazel Park, Michigan. A helicopter gets dangerously close to the smoke and fire, the fire flares up, and a woman on the other side of John R. collapses in the street.

  • What are the odds of catching two seperate emergencys on tape at the same time?

  • LOL, yeah, it was weird. The funny thing was is that I didn't know I had caught the lady collapsing on video until after I went home and watched the video.

I had noticed she collapsed and I stopped recording so I could run over to some paramedics that were in an ambulance on 9 Mile east of where I was recording the video.

All those crazy people that just have to be near dangerous fumes... Of course I was one of them! I did leave right after that!

  • The truck must have hit the piling.

  • Actually the collapse of the structure was caused by a failure of the metal structure that sits on top of the pilings. Although the fire may not have been hot enough to melt the steel, it was hot enough to weaken it; the same issue in the September 11th fires caused by the terrorists. The steel in its weakened state no longer could support the weight of the structure above it and it failed.

  • The heli was not as close as you think. It was never in any danger.

  • I hate to say this about Michigan drivers but they can't drive and this is what happens. They all need to be going back to driver Ed.

  • @viddyulasabee no one was killed in the fire

  • "Just after Obama became presedent, Farmington screamed and vomited in horror when the 9 Mile Road Bridge collpased. It was so deadly, that the whole town started a memorial for all who died on that day. It was a very horrible day that we all with never forget." (from A Story of A Freindly Michigan Town, released September 7, 2010)

  • @MaschAvenue, Yeah, the steek girders were becoming plastic like, they were melting, & they twisted due to their own weight & the weight of the roadway & the bridge collapsed. Adding to the heat was the burning asphalt pavement of the freeway.

  • @austin39028 That's crazy! Sorry to hear about it. Best wishes to his family.

  • Sweet old Lincoln at 1:17!
