too bad thats not how it works. you get a guy selling some drugs to a few people and he serves some hard time yet you get the swindlers from wall street, small time, ez prison.

Economics, same deal, the more power you have in the economic sphere to impact on the lives of people - the more you will be punished if you betray them through criminal behaviour. The greater your power to impact on society and the lives of others, as a general rule of thumb, the greater your punishment for engaging in crime. It's all about ensuring that public trust is not betrayed.

Interesting point of view. How would "power and authority" be measured?
I can see it work for Goverment and Official positions for politics for example. But what about economic crimes? Or which gang leader has more power and authority , the one from Gang A or from Gang B?

I am against the concept of equality before the law: the more power and authority that you have, the great the punishment you should receive if you betray the trust placed in you by society. Justice is a graded concept.
