Absolutely Fab!!! Good how I loved the Rats. Brilliant horn - what a driver.

My wife and I were treated to THIRTEEN MILES of horn warbling when we left Aberystwyth by train on Sept 21 1975 - but that was a class 24, after my father in law reminded the driver of a local tradition from steam days: all newly married couples left town to the sound of Swindon whistles, and the bigger the tip, the longer the whistles! Anybody know which 24 0XX it was?

Two "Rats" arrived on the NYMR ex Vic Berry's yard.
25278 was named "Castell Powis/ Powis Castle" in paint on the side of the locomotive.
I know there was a GWR Castle Class loco of the same name.
I wonder where the name was applied to the 'Rat'? It was at some point between August 1986 and January 1987.
I wondered why the painted name it bore on withdrawal was not kept, it was named "Sybilla" in preservation. If "Powis Castle" was unofficial I suppose there was no reason to keep it.

Hey that makes any tone vids I've heard pale into insignificance! What a stream of tones and nice to hear a 25 again as they are so like the late lamented 27 we had up her, ta for the upload. Ken

91 running backwards?

That was the only time I ever saw a 91 running flat end forward. I almost didn't bother to film it as I only went for the 25.
