This is video from Florence is just a little helpful hint to watch out for pickpockets while you travel in Italy. Use a money belt, keep your wallet in your front pocket, extra careful on the metro in Rome as they always can get you, don't let people "help" you if something gets on you like bird poop, or mustard. Italy is safe, but you must watch out in some locales just like any country.

  • I see you mentioned another video you did in your comments on security in Barcelona. They ought to have a donation button for people who really help others with their videos. I would donate $5.

  • @fruitarian The safety and security video in barcelona is more helpful as i talk about some of the typical scams like "bumping into you and getting mustard on you" they got my mom that way in Barcelona. And some more. Glad you like the videos and thank you for watching and commenting!

  • Thanks for making all those videos! Is that about all you need for Italy, just keep the wallet in the front pocket? I heard such horror stories that you have to be a lot more careful, and keep pepper spray and there are groups of people blocking you from exiting on public transit and then others get at your wallet when you aren't looking. I thought I would ask you to do two videos for us. One on how to foil pickpockets and the other on not being overcharged.

  • @fruitarian OK, I will put in my notes to put together a video on tips for avoiding pickpockets and not being overcharged. Those can work for any country. Give me a bit of time and I will do my best to get them made. Thanks again! and in italy it is not so bad, just really on the metro and popular public busses. but keep your wits about you and always keep an eye out. But do not be over paniced so you ruin your trip :) all will be well do not worry! Mark

  • You may think this work if you are wearing tight Jeans. However. I was in Rome this past week and my dad had his wallet in his front pocket but low and behold when we got off the train (subway) his wallet including all our money and credit cards was still on that train in the hands of the guy smiling out the window. Not to mention my grandpas pocket that had belongings was unbuttoned when it was defiantly buttoned when we got on. This method of putting your wallet in ur front pocket only work

  • @IAmMackey that is horrible. sorry to hear about your misfortune. that happened to a friend of mine's parents who were traveling with me in Rome, and my dad found the contents of his pockets on the floor of the metro in rome (it was the contents of his other pocket, not the pocket with all the money so he got lucky)

Make sure you cancel those cards, have had friends notice a card missing in naples train station and by the time they got to the hotel to call 700 euros had already been spent

  • i'm not agree,i'm italian and most of the time that doesn't happen. If you go in the south of italy ,yeah you better be carefull. But in the north you could chill out.

  • @IAmMackey @IAmMackey I am from Rome..

Unfortunatly in Italy and in Rome there are gypsies and foreigner immigrants that use to steal tourists. You must to be more smart. Divide the money and documents by the wallet and put it into other places of your dress. Use two kind of wallet one false and one true. Hide better the wallet true, and use the false as an bait. Then report them to the police calling the 113 or 112 (carabinieri). Help us to emproving our country. Report all to the police.

  • glad i can help. you should check out my security in barcelona video. there are more tips on keeping safe and keep from getting robbed.
