  • As regards a short runway leading to a heavy landing - If the runway is wet a firm touchdown helps break through the surface water to help prevent aquaplaning, the same as a car. In addition, a method to achieve a smooth touchdown involves holding the main wheels off by increasing the flare. This requires a longer landing distance rather than simply flying the aircraft onto the ground. Besides, a good landing doesn't necessarily mean a good pilot and vice versa

  • I've only flown into Dublin airport once on Ryanair, and both the approach and the touch-down were perfect. Same coming back - couldn't fault them on anything.

  • The runway length doesn't particularly have anything to do with the quality of landing. For example, many larger aircraft such as the A330 and even a few 747s visit Dublin (Aer lingus A330s) and neither does their training! Ryanair pilots all have ATPL (Air Transport Pilot Licenses) and btw, they don't actually train their pilots. They look for pilots with type ratings on the 737-800, not one's without and then train them.

  • Thats because thy want the planes in and out of airports as quickly as possible to save money so they can add to their fleet of around 130 planes

  • 8 months late, but "Cool!"

  • no!

  • I agree, I was at Stansted last week and the amount of tyre smoke and screech that came from Ryanair was at such a large frequency, I would say around.....100% of the time!!!

  • i was on ryanair and jesus the plane nearly crashing hahaha ye but nearly all landing at dublin are bad cause of the runway being short so the plane needs to slow down and stop quiker lol

  • PLease dont tell me your being serious

  • are ryanair so cheap that they don't train their pilots how to actually land the plane properly,i've never been on ryanair, but waiting for planes at the airport, they come down soo hard and fast compared to other airlines.
