Basic General Modeling in Cinema 4d

I'm brand noob in C4D and decided to follow your tut as the first one ever! When I try to extrude on top of an extrude, like at 1:22 no new faces are created. I got round it for now by using the ring slice, but i'd like to know why mine might behave differently to yours. any clues?

@iammoog Where the face deselected by accident? Should be able to crtl-d(extrude shortcut) as many times you want. Could of the tool changed after the first extrude?

Why do my 'cuts' look so bad? when you cut at 2:05 along the rim it doesnt flatten out when i do it

@Physicspilot First though,click on the create polygon tool under STRUCTURE..click once on the object you're creating. Then you can use the knife tool. Works great.

@FazedSD Just figured it out..in the program, hit the "M" key once then the key list will pop up. Click whatever tool you want then use it.

When I go to make it editable it wont let me use any of the modeling tools :(
